Inside GDC 2026: A Week of Inspiration, Innovation, and What's Next for ANTE

The 28th Annual IGF Awards at the Moscone Center, San Francisco — March 11, 2026
Last week I had the privilege of attending the GDC Festival of Gaming 2026 in San Francisco, and I'm still processing everything I experienced. What was once the Game Developers Conference has evolved into something even bigger — a true festival celebrating the craft, community, and future of game development. For ANTE, this trip was more than networking. It was a masterclass in where the industry is headed.
The Energy Was Electric
Walking through the Moscone Center doors on day one, the energy hit immediately. Over 20,000 attendees packed the halls — developers, publishers, tool-makers, investors, and creators from every corner of the globe. The sessions covered everything from next-gen rendering pipelines and AI-driven NPC behavior to live-service monetization ethics and the evolving relationship between streamers and game studios.
I spent the week bouncing between talks, demo stations, and some incredible conversations in the hallways and after-hours meetups. The people building the next generation of games aren't just technically brilliant — they're deeply thoughtful about player experience, fairness, and community. That resonates strongly with what we're building at ANTE.
Networking & What I Learned
The connections I made this week are going to pay dividends for ANTE. I had in-depth conversations with teams working on real-time matchmaking infrastructure, anti-cheat frameworks, and cross-platform integration — all technologies directly relevant to what we're engineering. I also connected with indie studios, esports organizers, and content creators who share our vision of a fairer competitive ecosystem.
One session that really stood out covered the latest advances in server-side game state verification — essentially the backbone of what makes skill-based competition trustworthy at scale. The technology has matured significantly, and seeing how developers are implementing it reinforced that ANTE's architecture is on the right track.
The festival format also gave me a deeper appreciation for the creator economy in gaming. The tools being developed to empower individual developers and small studios are extraordinary. It's a reminder that the future of gaming isn't just AAA — it's the passionate independents pushing boundaries every day.
The 28th Annual IGF Awards
The undeniable highlight of the week was the 28th Annual Independent Games Festival Awards on March 11th. The IGF has always been the heartbeat of the indie community, and this year's ceremony was something special. The creativity, ambition, and sheer artistry on display gave me goosebumps.
Huge congratulations to every finalist and winner. You are the lifeblood of this industry, and your work inspires all of us building in this space.

Congratulations to all winners, finalists, and honorable mentions. Every game showcased at the IGF this year represents hundreds — sometimes thousands — of hours of passion, creativity, and relentless problem-solving. The indie community continues to prove that the most innovative ideas in gaming don't always come from the biggest studios. They come from people who refuse to stop dreaming.
Looking Ahead...
Sitting in that audience watching developers take the stage to accept their awards, I couldn't help but think about the future. About what we're building. About the announcements we're not quite ready to make yet.
What I can say is this: the conversations I had at GDC this year weren't just about infrastructure and matchmaking. Some of them were about something much bigger. Something we've been working on quietly behind the scenes — and I think the gaming community is going to be very excited when the time comes to share it.
Maybe next year, we won't just be in the audience.
A big announcement is coming soon. Stay tuned.
GDC 2026 reminded me why I started ANTE in the first place. The gaming industry is full of brilliant, passionate people building incredible things. We're honored to be part of this community, and we can't wait to show you what's next.
Until then — keep competing, keep creating, and keep pushing the boundaries.
